Funeral services for Carolyn Kay Scott Ritchey,79, of Lovington will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Reimers officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Carolyn was born in Anson, Texas on January 17, 1944 to JW and Faye Scott and passed away peacefully in Lubbock Texas on February 17, 2023. Kay was a cherished member of HOBBS HIGH SCHOOL class of 1962. She was a varsity cheerleader, honored as Miss HHS and voted "Most Beautiful" by her classmates. She lived most of her adult life in Lovington. In 1989 she graduated with her Bachelor's degree in psychology and in 1997 received her Master's Degree in Educational Counseling from USW. Kay had a passion for those struggling with addiction and substance abuse. God gave her the VISION of a non-profit recovery facility named, HEARTS DESIRE which soon became reality and is still going strong today. Kay moved on to another vision which was called "Therapeutic Community" a pod at GEO prison where she was the director of counseling. After several years there she worked for the City of Hobbs providing court appointed Drug Counseling. Her last employment was at Desert Gardens Nursing Home where she provided counseling for the memory care unit and their families.

Kay is survived by her mother Faye "Dutch" Scott of Lovington; daughter: Donna Carol and husband Bobby Moore of Lovington; two grandsons: Tanner Moore and wife Sherry of Lovington and Nathan Moore and his wife Byanka; also, her granddaughter in law: Lindsay Dixon of Del Rio Texas; eight great- grandsons and one great-granddaughter; and three nieces.

Kay was preceded in death by her father: JW Scott; her daughter: Sabrah Dixon and her grandson: Tyler Dixon; two sisters: Sue Dixon and Barbara Gray.

Kay was so kind and had a Servants Heart. She LOVED her family and cherished her friends. She will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home.
