Alice Christine Parkerson Mhoon of Athens, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023. She was born April 29, 1925 in Snyder, Arkansas to the late Dennis Parkerson and Geraldine Austin Parkerson. She was married to Art Mhoon and resided in Lovington, New Mexico for most of her life. Together they owned and operated Mhoon Jewelry in Lovington. Her daughter Sharon Vaughan Ritchey joined the family business and worked with them for many years. Above all, Chris lived life to the fullest each day and was loved by her family and friends. Later in her life, she and her sisters (known as the Golden Girls) were famous for dressing in matching attire, especially on holidays, at the Austin Family Reunion, and on all the vacations they took together. They drew a crowd wherever they went. She is survived by her grandson, Wayne Vaughan (Brandye), granddaughter in law, Stacie Vaughan Benge (John), great granddaughter, Ashleigh Seguin (Tim) great grandsons Jacob Vaughan (Josey) and Justin Vaughan, and great great grandson Joshua Seguin and another great great grandchild who will be born in July 2023 to Jacob and Josey Vaughan : and numerous other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Art Mhoon, her daughter Sharon Rithchey, her brothers Junior Parkerson and Jimmy Parkerson, and sisters Marilyn Hale and Jo Wallace. A graveside service was held at Resthaven Cemetery in Lovington, New Mexico on Monday May 15th at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to South Place Nursing Center Garden Fund in Athens, Texas.
