Funeral service for Lonnie Wells, 85, of Lovington will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Chapel with Pastor Dean Shropshire officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Lonnie was born on March 2, 1938, in Wade, Oklahoma to Ezra and Mattie Wells and passed away on May 20, 2023.

After serving in the United States Army, he moved to Lovington in 1956 to be closer to family. Lonnie dedicated over 50 years to the oil fields, working up to becoming an expert in the industry.

He was skilled with machines of all kinds and was able to repair and rebuild cars – sometimes in the driveway. He prided himself with his garden. His family was very important to him, and he would spend as much time with them as he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ezra and Mattie Wells; and his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife Alma; two daughters: Pam Adams and husband Don, Fort Worth, TX and Patricia Murphy and husband Sammy, Lovington, NM; and five grandchildren: Jennifer Heidelberg and husband Darrell, Ft. Myers, FL, Lonnie Dean Murphy and wife Brittni, Irvine, CA, Melissa Adams-Hannebaum and husband Michael, Fort Worth, TX, Nathan Adams and wife Aubrey, Haslet, TX and Sarah Capers and husband Kiefer, Fort Worth, TX; and seven great-grandchildren: Hannah Gray, Mylee Heidelberg, Kaia Capers, Jaxon Heidelberg, Emilia Adams, Asher Murphy, Holly Adams.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.
