Obituary of Joyce Lastell McPherson

Funeral services for Joyce Lastell McPherson, 82, of Hobbs will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Lastell was born on June 25, 1941 in Lovington, New Mexico to George Isaac and Alice Jane (Langlitz) Sumruld and passed away on June 30, 2023 in Lubbock, Texas. Lastell loved country music and dancing but the Waltz was her favorite. She did lots of bowling and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Lastell liked playing bingo at the Senior Center. She loved going to Church at Fellowship of Believers in Hobbs. Spending time with her family and working in her yard were some of her enjoyable things to do. She was preceded in death by her parents: George Isaac and Alice Jane Sumruld; one daughter: Sandra Dee McPherson; one son: Tommy Devon McPherson Jr.; one brother: George Wayne Sumruld; and one sister: Vivian Hope Messenger. She is survived by one son: Steven Lance McPherson; two daughters: Christie Suzanne White and Kimberly Michelle McPherson; one sister: Rosa Lee Thornhill; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
