Leona Boman, 76, of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away on November 11, 2023 at her residence in Hobbs. She was born on June 29, 1947 in Artesia, New Mexico to Bernard and Irma Lou (Stark) Whiteacre. Leona married Jerald (Bo) Boman on February 18, 1963 in Seminole, Texas. After their marriage, they moved to Roswell, New Mexico and thru the years have lived in several other places, settling in Hobbs. Leona enjoyed being with Bo and going fishing and she liked going Gold Prospecting, Spelunking and going camping in Colorado, Texas and Nevada. She especially "loved" the one-arm bandits at Laughlin and they made that fun time an annual trip. She had a huge "thing" for Judge Judy and never missed watching when she was on TV. Her collection of Walt Disney characters was Bugs Bunny and she had many items of Bugs. Leona loved people and never met a stranger. She always had a smile and a great sense of humor. She was a member of Fellowship of Believers Church in Hobbs where she and Bo have served for many years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceding her in death were her parents: Bernard and Irma Whiteacre and one sister: Linda Barber. Surviving her is her husband of sixty years: Jerald Boman of the home: one son: Clinton Boman of Houston, Texas; one daughter: Rebecca Boman of Odessa, Texas; one brother: Darrell Whiteacre; three grandchildren: Koby Boman, Jeremy Jones, and Madison Jones; and one greatgrandchild: Leon Boman. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home in Lovington, NM. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Fellowship of Believers Church in Hobbs, New Mexico with Pastors, Johnnie Blalack, David Matkins and Larry Wood officiating.
