Funeral services for Thelma Lee Scott, 88, of Lovington, New Mexico will be held on Friday, December 16, 2023 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Thelma was born on February 11, 1935 in Shannon, Texas to Ramon Earl and Hettie Mae (Lyles) Hilburn and passed away on December 10, 2023. Thelma grew up in the Tatum and Lovington area. She was raised on the family ranch with her 4 other siblings, including her twin sister. She attended the Baptist Church her entire life. Thelma spent most of her professional life working as a Nursing Home Administrator for Living Centers of America in various locations. She retired in 2000 from the nursing home in Wharton, Texas and moved back to her home in Lovington. She continued to work when she moved home as a substitute for the local elementary schools. One of Thelma's greatest joys was her children and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and housekeeper. Thelma was also an avid shopper and loved to dress up. Thelma married Glenn Scott on May 9, 2006 in Lovington. They enjoyed spending time at Aransas Pass where they enjoyed fishing, playing bridge and dancing. Glenn took very good care of Thelma, especially in her later years, when things became harder for her to do. Glenn made sure she had her hair done every week and did her nails for her. Glenn would always fix Thelma whatever she wanted to eat no matter what it was. The family wants to thank the Hobbs Beehive and their staff for helping take care of Thelma during the past couple of years. A special thanks goes out to Starla McCann, Rebekah Bryant, and Zeniada "Z" Palmares. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ramon Earl and Hettie Mae Hilburn; three sisters: Vada Gilcrest, Virgie Parchman, and Zelma Teague; and one brother: Linden Hilburn. She is survived by her husband: Glenn Scott; one daughter: Teresa Tucker; one son: Jerry Goff; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
