Obituary of Ruben Jimenez Escandon

Watch the Tribute Ruben Jimenez Escandon March 12, 1949 - March 20, 2014 Funeral services for Ruben J. Escandon, 65, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Escandon was born in Artesia, NM on March 12, 1949 to Ramon and Eva (Jimenez) Escandon and passed away at his residence on Thursday, March 20, 2014. He lived in Artesia most of his life and came to Lovington in the late 80’s. He worked in the oilfields and was certified in drafting and electricity. He was a contractor doing landscaping and other jobs and enjoyed working and building things around the house. He loved his family being around him, especially his grandchildren and he loved spending time with them. He was a man that would help anyone in need when he could, whether it was family, friends, or a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, two brothers, and one grandchild, Joshua Escandon. He is survived by his wife, Josefina of the home; four sons: Rudy and wife Sarah Escandon of Hagerman, NM, Ronnie Escandon of Michigan; Ruben Jr. and wife Maria Escandon of Hobbs, NM; Isaac and wife Vanessa Escandon of Carlsbad, NM and one daughter: Clarissa and husband Jose Israel Isassi of Lovington and one sister: Ramona and husband Javier Fernandez of New Jersey. Also surviving him are thirteen grandchildren. Rosary will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 25th at 7:00 pm. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 8:30 am until rosary time and Wednesday, March 26th from 8:30 am until 1:30pm. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com
