Obituary of Dudley Philip Murph

Dudley Philip Murph, longtime resident of Lovington, NM passed away on May 3, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas, from complications after hip surgery. Dudley was a career employee for Lea County Electric Co-op of 36 years, beginning in 1967 as a lineman, and later becoming a lineman supervisor. He retired from Lea County Electric in 2003. He married the love of his life Bonnie Flo Chambers in 1963, they were married 43 years until her passing in 2006. His time at home was spent doing what he loved, farming his alfalfa, and taking care of his horses and livestock and kids Denise and Philip. He was active in Junior Rodeo, producing and helping to produce many High Plains Junior Rodeo's. He was the President of the High Plains Junior Rodeo Association for many years, and he loved working with the children who competed. He was also a lifelong active member of First Christian Church of Lovington. One of his most cherished accomplishments, was his commitment to sobriety of 35 years. Most recently Dudley has been spending his time in Lubbock with Denise and Braden. Where he could love on his horses, and have plenty of time out at the arena, watching Braden rope, and Denise teach youngsters to ride. Dudley was preceded in death by three of his brothers, his Father- in-law Kenneth Chambers, his wife Bonnie Flo, their son Philip, and his grandson Blair all of Lovington, brother-in-law Bill Dye and niece Brenda Pflaum. He has left behind his Mother in law Geraldine (Gerry) Chambers of Lovington, Daughter Denise and grandson Braden of Lubbock, Daughter In Law Stacey Kennemer Murph of Lovington, grandchildren Troy Murph, Gates Houghton and great grandson Tilden Wayne of Justin, Texas, Baylee Murph of Lubbock, and Hagen Murph of Artesia. Brother Jim Murph and his wife, and sister in law Charline Dye of Cloudcroft and Nephew Kenny Dye and family, along with many more extended family and friends. Funeral arrangements are through Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home in Lovington. Services will be held at First Christian Church in Lovington, on Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 am, with burial at Lovington Cemetery following. Visitation will be on Friday, May 10th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Pallbearers for the funeral are Bob Holt, Brandon Fuqua, Brad Murph, Troy Murph, Hagen Murph, Braden Murph, George Hernandez, and Brad Willis. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Berry, Scotty Lewellen and Arzelle Sellers.
