Funeral service for Johnny Wayne Blackwood, 78, of Lovington will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:00 am at Jackson Ave. Baptist Church with Bro. Dave Rowser officiating. Johnny was born on October 18, 1945 in Lovington, NM to Horace and Drannan (Ivy) Blackwood and passed away on May 30, 2024. He grew up in Lovington and gradiated from Lovington High School. Johnny married Terrie Lynne Gregory on April 30, 1988 in Lovington. He worked in the oilfield for over 40 years, and helped his wife, Terrie, serve up delicious fried fish at Pioneer Steak House. Johnny enjoyed sharing a good laugh with his lifelong friend Zeke, and fishing with his buddy Chris. He enjoyed playing Hearts and Dominos on his computer. But picking on people and giving them a hard time was his favorite thing to do. He was a great person and was well thought of and will be truly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents: Horace and Drannan Blackwood; one son: Johnny Blackwood Jr. and two sisters: Peggy Mabrey and Jimmie Smith. He is survived by his wife: Terrie Blackwood of 36 years; two sons: Beau Blackwood and Trey Robinson; three daughters: Jobeth Stoltz, Phyllisha Collins, and Maimie Coffman; one brother: Bobby Blackwood; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
