Obituary of Elwood Lee Grube

Please share a memory of Elwood to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lee Grube, Jr was born March 6, 1941 in Carlsbad, NM. He passed into Heaven to meet the Lord from this life at the age of 83 on June 24, 2024. Lee was an honorable, hardworking family man who always provided for and took care of his family. His father was burned in a fire at Lee's Radiator shop in 1965. Lee was there to run the business and help his mother provide for his sisters and brother until his return home. Lee grew up going to church nearly every time the doors were open. His parents taught him the ways of the Lord. He believed in Jesus Christ. He learned the trade of meat cutting from Arnold Crabb. This became his lifelong profession. Lee married Freeda, the love of his life, May 13, 1966. They moved to California and began their family. He loved his family so much. He provided for them by working 6 days a week and making the most of his time off. We remember him taking us to see our grandparents every single year. Driving sometimes 17 hours at a time to get us there. He took us camping often and those were some of our best memories. Not to mention going to Disneyland and the beach multiple times. He was also very involved in our sports. He even managed our baseball teams. Our dad was always there for us. His advice and love always solid. He and his bride loved going to Laughlin and walking along the river with their dogs, Missie and Max. He loved his music, listening to Creedence Clearwater and various other favorites. They enjoyed going to Queen where they built a wonderful little spot to enjoy weekends, sometimes weeks at a time. It was their favorite place to go. Success is measured by love, loyalty, respect, commitment and faith. Our Lee, (Dad and husband), was one of the most successful in this life. Lee was preceded in death by his parents: Lee Sr. and Marie Grube; sisters: Patsy Hansen and Barbara White and great granddaughter: Conner Rhodes. Lee is survived by his wife: Freeda; Sisters: JoAnn and husband John Williamson, Norma Wade and husband Jimmy; Brother: Dennis and wife Debbie; Sons: Mikel, Grady and Michelle; son Cais; Daughter: Lanette Windham and husband John; Grandchildren: Travis Windham and wife Monica, Hollie Rhodes and husband Brenon, Hailey and Joseph; Great grandchildren: Blake and Delilah. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Star Hospice for their excellent care. Online condolences may be sent via www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
