Dorcas Deanna Spalding Obituary

Dorcas Deanna Spalding was born to Gene and Gwendolyn (Huffstettler) Williams in Hobbs, New Mexico on October 26th 1956 and entered into rest… at her home in Hobbs, New Mexico. She began her education in Hobbs but temporarily put it on hold to help take care of her ill mother, beginning her life-long endeavor to faithfully visit and minister to the sick. Dorcas married the love of her life, Arvin L. Spalding, January 1st, 1974, in Hobbs, New Mexico. Four Children were born to this union.

Dorcas served as midwife over forty times and assisted with many more births. A devout and faithful Christian with an undying love for her Lord and Savior.

A blessing to all who met her she was responsible for many smiles and much laughter… a beautiful ray of sunshine. Never a dull moment… she was an awesome back seat driver for her husband who pretended not to appreciate it but felt lost without her… truly a match made in heaven!

God Let her be born with a withered hand and a little difficulty walking just to show us that life don't have to be perfect to be enjoyable and not to be a complainer but rather a wonderful blessing to others despite our challenges. Always on the ready with a song be it at church, bedside of the sick or just thrilling the hearts of little ones with her silly made up melodies.

A great cook of many things but was known for her homemade biscuits and her almost world-famous cinnamon chocolate sheet cake.

A Mother, sister, confidant, best friend, and a reminder to get right with the Lord to anyone who needed one.

Time can only tell of the many ways she will be missed.

Preceding her in death are her parents: Gene and Gwendolyn Williams; husband: Arvin Spading; one infant child: Leland Spalding. Two brothers: Ronnie and Norman Williams; two sisters: Sharon Cottrell and Valencia Spalding; one Brother-in-law: Dow Cottrell

Survivors include, two daughters: Ranette and Radeena Spalding, one son: Randall and wife Lorenda; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One Brother: Bennett Williams and Wife Carol; Two Sisters: Janice Lee and Husband Ronnie, Laneta Campbell and husband Donny. Two Sisters in law: Fama Williams and Flower Williams; Brother-in-law: James Spalding and wife Valisa.

And so many other family members and friends.
