Obituary of William Marvin Browning

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William Marvin Browning, 87, of Lovington, New Mexico went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2024 while being at Permian Regional Medical Center Hospital in Andrews, Texas because of multiple health issues. Marvin was born to William Crutcher and Allie Lee (Irene) Browning in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 7, 1936. Anyone who knew Marvin knew that he loved God, his family, his church family and his friends unconditionally. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a true servant. He had a fierce work ethic from an early age. He grew up in Wichita Falls and quit school after the seventh grade to start working to help support his family because his father has passed away when Marvin was only eight years old. His first job was throwing newspapers. He then went to work for Westbrooks, Inc. He later met the love of his life, Pauline Miller. They were married at the Little Brown Church in Wichita Falls on December 4, 1962 and they were married for almost 59 years. When Marvin married Pauline he willingly took on the responsibility of raising her four children from a previous marriage which he did without question. In November of 1963 another daughter was born into the family. In 1966, Marvin and Pauline and their five children moved to Lovington, New Mexico where Marvin worked for his cousin Jim Browning at Browning Plumbing for 14 years. In 1980 he went to work for Third and Central Church of Christ as a custodian and was still employed there at the time of his death. Marvin was a member and faithfully attended Third and Central Church Christ from the 1970's onward. He was also an "honorary member" of the Sherwood Church of Christ in Odessa, Texas while he lived in Andrews with his daughter and her family because of health issues. He was also a member of the IOOF. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife: Pauline; one brother: Bobby; and his sisters: Patsy, Betty, Wanda and Jesse Mae along with his stepfather: Johnny Gilcrease. He is survived by his sons: Charles Collins and wife Heleena of NE Mississippi, Lynn Collins of Houston Texas, James Collins and wife Diann of Glen Rose, Texas; daughters: Mary Crow and husband Brian of Andrews, Texas and Sandra Browning of San Antonio, Texas; one sister: Janie Browning of Wichita Falls, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home on July 15, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Third and Central Church of Christ in Lovington, New Mexico on July 16, 2024 at 11:00 am with Jordon Crow and David Stewart officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow at the Lovington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Third and Central Church of Christ P.O Box. 1315 Lovington, New Mexico.
