Funeral Services for Sylvester Sims Jr., 79, will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel with David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Sylvester was born on October 14, 1944 in Grassland, Texas to Sylvester Sr. and Geneva (Clark) Sims and passed away on July 15, 2024. Sylvester liked going fishing and hunting. He liked watching Western Movie's and Wrestling. Sylvester enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Sylvester Sr. and Geneva Sims; his wife: Helen Sims; one son: Clifford Sims; one daughter: Stephanie Sims; three sisters: Thelma Jackson, Emma Jean Haskins, and Bobbie Coe; one brother: Henry Sims.

He is survived by one daughter: Sylvia Greathouse and husband Timmie; one brother: Walter Simes and wife Mildred; two sisters: Mildred Stovall and Carrie Martin and husband Arthur; three grandchildren: Timothy, Brock and wife Gina, and Caleb and wife Allison; and four great-grandchildren: Kailyn, Kylee, Amaya, and Melody.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
