Funeral services for Petra Ruiz de Ortiz, 92, of Lovington will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Petra was born on January 10, 1932 in El Pueblito, Chihuahua, Mexico to Carmen and Gumercinda (Barrientos) Ruiz and passed away on August 2, 2024. Petra was a good cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Petra was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church until she got sick and could not go any more. She was a hard worker.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Carmen and Gumercinda Ruiz; her husband: Natividad Ortiz; one daughter: Maria de La Luz Loya; one brother: Candelario Ruiz; and three sisters: Lucia Derma, Florinda Ruiz Barrientos, and Maria de Jesus Ruiz Barrientos.

She is survived by three daughters: Maria G. Aranda, Martha and husband Gabriel Ramirez, and Sandra Ortiz; one sister: Manuela Ruiz de Nunez, sixteen grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:00 am until after Rosary. Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm.
