Greatest of Friends,
David married my sister in 1956 and little did he know that I would be moving in with them just a year later. Mom & Dad moved from Lovington, NM to Midland, TX in the summer of 1957; David & Jeanette allowed me to live with them since I was entering my senior year in High School. Wow, I can only imagine what David must have thought; "I didn't sign up for this". But he never indicated any displeasure whatsoever, and I was welcomed into their home. I probably wasn't there much anyway with all the basketball, track and dating activities that I was involved in. David helped me work on my old 1949 Ford and also supplied me with plenty of drip gasoline obtained off of the pipeline out in the field where he worked. We became the best of buddies and lifelong friends.
We remained close throughout the years since then and would go on many trips and vacations together. The most memorial trip was when Cheryl and I went on a trip with them up to Yellowstone and then along the west coast which included a cruise from VanCouver to Alaska and back. And, then a drive down the west coast to LosAngeles and then on home to Lovington and Lindale. Our total auto travel distance was over 7000 miles. We would play Hand and Foot card game every night as we traveled! David and I did not win a game the entire trip, not one game. But it was a great trip.
Cheryl and I went up to Mount Rushmore first and then across to Yellowstone. We were going to meet David and Jeanette in Van Couver and we didn't know their travel schedule, but as we pulled into Yellowstone we cranked up our CB Radio and asked if the Yellow Bird or the White Knight had their ears on, and low and behold they answered. They were in the park at the same time. We met them at the Old Faithful Welcome Center, had an ice cream cone together and went on our separate ways.
I'll miss those talks we had over the years, he was a good buddy.

Q: What will you never forget about David?
A: 1.) He always had a big smile on his face.
2.) He always embraced you with a big hug, kiss on the cheek and unconditional love.
3. Loved all of his jokes and daffy duck impressions!
4.) He had a very tender heart.
5.) I will always remember him playing the harmonica.

My uncle David was a good and kind man. He named me D'Aun. I have always been told how pretty my name is, despite people getting the pronunciation wrong. Uncle David made an impression with all the kids with his imitation of Donald Duck. My dear uncle ❤ walked me down the aisle of my 2nd wedding. He stepped up to the occasion when I really needed him. I'll never forget him, I loved him very much. D'Aun

I bought my first car ever from Uncle David. A beautiful 1970 (first year) Chevrolet Monte Carlo. I kept that car for 16 years. I still had it when my Daughter Sydney was born in 1989. We brought her home from University Hospital in Lubbock Texas in that Montr Carlo.
Uncle David was always kind to me. He offered good fatherly advice to me on occasion. I loved him, and I know he loved me. Until we see each other again in Gods New world , Rest well. (Daniel 12:13)

David was a gem, I have sweet memories as a kid visiting you in New Mexico and how fun I thought he was to be around. He seemed to want to hang at the “kids table” as much as with the adults. Donald Duck will always be David Duck to me, I’m sure I’m not the only one. Your family is in my prayers.

He was one of the nicest men I knew. He worked with Ralph at Mid-America Pipeline and they became good friends. I remember Ralph and I would go and Have Coffee and Dave would come sit and they would joke a lot and pick on me.. It was fun. I know he will be missed as much as Ralph is an now they can be jokesters in Heaven together.
I'm so sorry for your loss. May god give you all peace and comfort in the days to come. God Bless you all.
