Obituary of Gabina Gonzales

Gabina Gonzales April 19, 1929 - September 11, 2016 Funeral services for Gabina Gonzales, 87, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Redentor Molina officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Ms. Gonzales was born in Castolon, Texas to Antonio and Josefa (Cabello) Acosta on April 19, 1929 and passed away in Lovington on September 11, 2016. She was almost a lifelong resident of Lovington and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and a Guadalapana member. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and liked working in her yard and especially loved roses. Ms. Gonzales liked to stay busy and was a very hard worker. In her idle time she enjoyed Novelas and music. One of her greatest joys was seeing her grandchildren and going to see them play sports. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Janie Contreras; two sisters: Juana Castillo and Marcela Jasso and one brother: Manuel Acosta. Surviving her are her two sons: Oscar Jr and Isfrain Gonzales, both of Lovington, NM; one daughter: Linda and husband Manuel Gallegos of Hobbs, NM; two brothers: Carlos and wife Sherry Acosta of Austin, TX and Jose and wife Geneva Acosta of Hobbs, NM; one sister: Rita Rodriguez of Lovington; eleven grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until rosary time at the funeral home. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday at St Thomas Catholic Church.
