Worth, TX and formerly of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Matthew Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Ms. Wanda was born in Littlefield, TX on September 26, 1927 to Jacob Willis and Nora Belle (Deaver) Capps and passed away in Ft. Worth, TX on August 22, 2015. She grew up and attended school in Elida and Portales, NM and later moved to Lovington with her parents where she met Dennis Eugene Gregg. The couple married on August 30, 1953 in Lovington and they ran a time owned vegetable farm on the west side of Lovington. Wanda was a very active member of First United Methodist Church and was involved in Methodist Women, church council and several other ministries. For many years she was in charge of the meals for funerals and other functions and was the epitome of an organized and responsible chef and also a very good cook. She was totally committed to baking the bread for communion Sundays and would make sure she was home to take care of her ministry. She had worked at Blooming Gardens for awhile and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. The rose shows, iris sales and garden club brought special joy to her. Wanda was very patriotic and involved in the community and was an active member of the local VFW, serving as president of the organization. During the last few years she has lived in Fort Worth with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one daughter: Cheryl Gregg and three brothers: Donald, Wallace and Kenneth Capps. She is survived by one daughter: Lorrie Scott of Ft. Worth, TX; two sons: Kyle Gregg of Odessa, TX and Wiley and wife Mindy Gregg of Odessa; three brothers: Jim & wife Pat Capps of Dumas, TX; Bill and wife Sue Capps of Gun Barrel City, TX and Melvin and wife Marilyn Capps of Tennessee and one sister: LoReta and husband Kenneth Owens of Bandera, TX; three grandchildren: Dionicia “DJ” Hoppe, Tia Gregg and Amber Gregg and seven great-grandchildren.
