Jimmy Ray Griffin, 78, a long-time resident of Lovington, NM went to be with Jesus on Friday, December 16, 2016. He had been a short term resident of Good Samaritan Center after suffering from COPD and emphysema for many years. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Jimmy was born on July 4, 1938 in Tatum, NM to James and Margaret (Schooley) Griffin. He attended school in Lovington and enjoyed various vocations during his lifetime, one was working at a steel industry and one being a locksmith. His enjoyment was building trains as he truly loved trains also liked John Wayne and the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter: Alexys Cope and one niece, Amanda Rodriguez.
Surviving him are his two daughters: Crystal Cope of Ft. Worth, TX and Evelyn Holland of Lovington; one sister: Patt Roquemore of Lovington; seven grandchildren: Sarah, Brooklyn, Bradley, Lindsay, Alex, Alayna and Alilyn and five great-grandchildren: Kyler, Kynleigh, Kymbriah, Baylee and Natalie.
A private family memorial service has been held.
