Obituary of Francisco Guzman

Francisco Guzman December 01, 1933 - January 31, 2015 Funeral services for Francisco Guzman, 81, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Redentor Molina officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Guzman was born in San Bernardo, Durango, Mexico on December 1, 1933 to Rudecindo and Elisa (Rubio) Guzman and passed away at Hobbs Health Center on January 31, 2015. He married Maria Cruz in Mexico on February 8, 1969 and they have shared 46 years together. He came to Lovington in 1976 and was employed by Ferguson Construction and also retired from Ferguson. He enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center to play pool and he loved to play cards and dominoes. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. Cooking out was a favorite hobby of his, especially country style ribs and he would share the food with friends and neighbors. Mr. Guzman also had a “green thumb” and liked green plants and vegetation. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Panfilo Guzman and one sister: Josefina Lopez. Surviving him are his wife, Maria of the home; three sons: Carlos and wife Jamie Guzman of Kansas; Francisco Guzman and Alvaro Agustin Guzman, both of Lovington; three daughters: Rosa and husband Joe Leyva of Lovington, Martha and husband Victor Manriquez of Hobbs, and Natalie Guzman-Hoefer and husband Alex of Albuquerque, NM; three brothers: Julian Guzman of Mexico, Guillermo and wife Concepcion Guzman of Lovington and Gregorio and wife Carmen Guzman of Mexico; two sisters: Apolinar and Anna Guzman both of Mexico; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from noon until Rosary time at the funeral home. Rosary will be held Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 7:00 pm.
