Obituary of Shirley Hall

Watch the Tribute Shirley Hall November 23, 1923 - June 29, 2011 Funeral services for Shirley Hall, 87, of Hobbs, NM, formerly of Lovington, will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron Ragland officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven cemetery. Mrs. Hall was born on November 23, 1923 in Snyder, Texas to Emmit and Ada Fairie (Clanton) Hargrove and passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her residence in Hobbs, NM. She was a nurse, training on the job from age 18 until she challenged the Nursing Board and received her LVN degree and she served in the nursing field until she retired at age 70. She married F. W. Hall on November 27, 1943 and they came to Lovington in 1950 where she was employed by Lovington Hospital and also worked at Lea Regional Hospital, known then as Llano Estacado Hospital. They owned a restaurant called the Chat & Chew and the Smokehouse and had other businesses in Lovington for many years. She was a member of Rebekahs, Altrusia and Jackson Ave Baptist Church. Her passion was writing poetry and nursing and studying; she also dabbled a little in politics helping on Harold Runnels campaign. She moved to Hobbs in 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one daughter: Brenda Salcido; two brothers Carl and Allen Hargrove and one sister: Adell Campbell. She is survived by her son: Jeffrey and wife B.J. Hall of Albuquerque, NM, and two daughters: Delona “Dee” Spradling of Hobbs, NM and Janice Williford of Pottsboro, TX; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2011 from noon until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and Saturday July 2, 2011 from 8:30 until service time. A very heartfelt thank you goes to Vista Care and especially Tamara, Melissa and Kristi for their wonderful care of Shirley and to Dr. Kankanala for his long term care and friendship.
