Obituary of Mary Luella Hammons

Mary Luella "Lue" Hammons July 11, 1928 - July 10, 2017 Funeral services for Mary “Lue” Hammons, 88, of Lovington will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Jackson Ave Baptist Church with Bro. Dave Rowser and Bro. Stan Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Lue was born on July 11, 1928 in El Dorado, OK to Roy Richard and Lola Mae (Nix) Tigert and passed away on July 10, 2017 in Lovington. Lue married Edgar Dale Hammons on May 24, 1946 in Quanah, TX and they have shared 71 years. She has lived in Lovington for 61 years and served as Church secretary for twelve years. Lue worked for the State Income Support Division for fourteen years. Lue was preceded in death by her parents and one son: Carl Dean Hammons; a sister Dorothy and brother Arthur. Surviving her is her husband Edgar Dale Hammons of Lovington, NM; Two sons: Lynn Dale Hammons of Lovington, NM, and Donald Wayne Hammons of Lakeway, TX; one brother: Charles Richard Tigert of Schulenburg, TX; two sisters: Leona Taylor of Powers, Or and Thelma Clark of Oklahoma City OK. ; Six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are Ron Kirkland, Mike Donoho, Jerry Welch, Harold Sherrill, B A Ivy, and Jim Trujillo.
