Obituary of Riley Joseph Hardin

Hardin Sr, 86, of Lovington, will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Mr. Hardin was born on October 8, 1923 in Caddo Binger, Oklahoma to Mancel Edward and Bertha Jewell (Ballard) Hardin and passed away on June 6, 2010 at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs. He has been a resident of New Mexico for over 60 years and was employed by Armstrong & Armstrong Construction in Roswell for 35 years before his retirement. He was a bull rider in his younger years, enjoyed working with wood and was considered a work-a-holic as he was always doing something. He was a member of Revival Center Church. His mischievious grin and the twinkle in his blue eyes will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Larry and Christopher; four sisters: Pearl, Imogene, Ilene, Joyce; two brothers: Joseph Lonzo and Verg and one grandson, Jimmy Fults. He is survived by two sons: Billy and wife Brenda Hardin of Lovington and Riley Jr. and wife Sharon Hardin of Cripple Creek, CO; one daughter: Dorothy and husband Michael Furphy of Las Vegas, NV; one brother: Tass and wife Lois Hardin of Las Vegas, NV; one sister Pauline Flippin of Las Vegas, NV and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 9th from 10 am until 5 pm and Thursday, June 10th from 8:30 am until 8:00 pm.
