Obituary of Ramona Hennington

Ramona Hennington January 12, 1932 - April 28, 2009 Funeral services for Ramona “Mona” Hennington, 77, of Lovington will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith- Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mack McCarthick officiating. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mona passed away on April 28, 2009 at Nor-Lea Hospital. She was born January 12, 1932 in Barstow, Texas to Julian & Florentina (Rosales) Nunez. Mona was a long time resident of Lovington, moving here in 1949. She moved to Eunice for a while and then back to Lovington. She bought the Ranch House Café in 1975 operating it for many years and then Michael’s Restaurant, now known as Mi Casa. She was in the restaurant business for 25 years. She worked as a correctional officer for the County Detention Center until her retirement and then was a caregiver for Lin-Mar. She was a great cook and enjoyed working in her yard & taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by 3 sons: Danny & Janet Escobedo of Midland, TX; John & Anita Escobedo of Huntsville, TX; Roy and Lupe Escobedo of Midland, TX, 2 daughters: Susy Doporto and Lisa Escobedo both of Lovington, NM, 2 brothers: Jesse & Maria Ontiveros of Odessa, TX and Paul Nunez of Hobbs, NM, and 1 sister: Alcaria Garcia of Farmington, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Frank Ontiveros and 1 sister, Refugia Lopez. Visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm.
