Obituary of Samuel Hernandez

Samuel Hernandez October 18, 1945 - March 02, 2017 Memorial services for Samuel Hernandez, 71, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 9:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Father Redentor Molina officiating. Rosary will be held on Friday, March 10th at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Hernandez was born in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico on October 18, 1945 to Everado and Antolina (Mejia) Hernandez and passed away on March 2, 2017 in Lubbock, TX. He was married to Avelina (Vega) Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez has lived in Los Angeles, San Pedro and San Diego before moving to Lovington twenty years ago. He loved horses and enjoyed riding. He liked the Colear, sport event, at the ranch in El Porvenir and loved going there to visit with family and friends. He especially liked being there at Christmas and Thanksgiving and then later when the peach tree orchard was ripe. Samuel liked music and was a very friendly and outgoing person with a good sense of humor. He had a lot of friends and he loved his family and children. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister. Surviving him is his wife of the home; his Mother; two sons and four daughters; one brother and four sisters; several grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
