Graveside services for Betty Jean Higgins, 84, formerly from Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10:00 am at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
Betty was born on September 1, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas to Bill and Maymie Lewis and passed away on January 19, 2015 in Wylie, Texas. Betty was a nurse for over 40 years and a Registered Nurse for 25 years. She was in the first graduating LVN and RN classes at New Mexico Junior College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred M. Higgins, and her parents, Maymie and Bill Lewis. She is survived by two sons: Weldon Lee Higgins and wife Vicki of Farmington, NM, Thomas “Tommy” Wade Higgins and wife Tracie of Yukon, OK. Two daughters: Linda Higgins Turnbow and husband Gary of Houston, TX, Judy Higgins Houston of Wylie, TX. One sister: Marylyn Young of Kingsland, TX. And numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
