Gene Alton Hopkins July 23, 1953 - April 26, 2007 Funeral services for Gene Alton Hopkins, 53 of Hobbs are scheduled for Monday, May 7, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Lloyd Hargrove of Lubbock, Texas will officiate with burial taking place at Lovington Cemetery. He died at his residence in Hobbs on April 26, 2007. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Hopkins was born July 23, 1953 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and bird hunting. He had his pilot’s license and loved to fly planes. He loved his family and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters, Jessica Moorhead and her husband Nath of Lovington, Jennifer Flemmons and her husband Robert of Lovington, Janessa Molina and her husband Eric of Ballinger, Texas; his former wife Kate Hopkins of Lovington; his parents, Lois A. & Wilma Hopkins of Denver City, TX. And one sister, Anita Offutt of Mesa, Arizona and 7 grandchildren.
