Obituary of Maria Alicia Jaquez

Watch the Tribute Maria Alicia Jaquez July 06, 1946 - August 25, 2013 Funeral services for Maria Alicia Jaquez, 67, of Albuquerque, formerly of Lovington, will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Jaquez was born on July 6, 1946 in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Refugio (Marquez) Gomez and passed away in Albuquerque, NM on August 25, 2013. She married Miguel Angel Jaquez in Lovington on June 9, 1967. Maria got her GED at 37 years of age and then became a US Citizen. She was a very caring person, enjoyed dancing, collecting antiques, knitting and crocheting and keeping her yard and plants pretty for all to enjoy. She attended St. Thomas Catholic Church and was an active woman until her health began to fail. She encouraged her children to get a good education. She worked as a Home Health Aide for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter: Lorena Jaquez. She is survived by two sons: Miguel Angel Jaquez of Houston, TX and Jesus Gomez Jaquez of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter Blanca Jaquez of Albuquerque, NM; six brothers: Gustavo and wife Aurora Gomez of Dell City, TX; Mike and wife Rose Gomez of Lovington, Manuel and wife Chris Gomez of Lovington, Anastacio and wife Elisa Gomez of Lovington and Flabio Gomez of Lovington and Hector and wife Rosie Gomez of Wickett, TX; two grandchildren: Christoval Quintana of Lovington and Jesyca Lopez of Hobbs and two great-grandchildren: Anijah and Amalia Redhouse; also numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 10:00 am until after Rosary, which will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 pm on Thursday. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
