Obituary of Helen Louise Jenkins

Helen Louise Jenkins December 01, 1926 - March 27, 2014 Graveside services for Helen Louise Jenkins, 87, of Jal, New Mexico will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Jal Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Bro. Alan Speed officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Jenkins was born in El Dorado, Texas on December 1, 1926 to Horace and Lillian Craig and passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Jal. She married Buddy Jenkins in Jal, NM in 1983. They had lived in San Angelo before returning to Jal in 2007 to make their home. Helen enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and was the type of person that was very thoughtful and loved doing for others, as she was able. She was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping current with the newspapers and her computer. She was a Christian lady, a caring and loving person and was very talented at sewing, especially quilting. She loved making quilts; was a fast quilter and she was unique in that she did all the quilting by hand. In earlier years she enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Wesley Patterson and several siblings. She is survived by her husband, Buddy, of the home and two daughters: Pam and husband Marshall Driggers of Jal, NM and Valerie Williams of Houston, TX, one brother, Hugh Dewitt Craig of Mabank, TX and one sister, Dorothy Anderton of Harrah, OK; two grandchildren: Tray and wife Teresa Messer of Carlsbad, NM and Jessica Patterson of Tennessee and two great-grandchildren, Trystan and Traelyn.
