Obituary of Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson July 20, 1954 - February 18, 2013 Memorial services for Charles Ray “Charley” Johnson Sr., 58, of Colorado Springs, CO will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Johnson was born on July 20, 1954 in Post, TX to Jack and Joye Johnson and passed away on February 18, 2013 in Denver, CO. Charley attended school in Lovington, graduating from Lovington High School in 1972. He worked in the oilfield in Southeast NM before becoming an electrician. The electrical trade brought him to Colorado Springs in 1998. He was a proud union member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 113. He became the business manager of IBEW 113 in 2010. He was very dedicated in serving his brothers and sisters in the electrical trades and America’s working families. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joye Floyd; his stepfather, Orlen Floyd; his son, Shane Ray and his brother, Bobby Jack. He is survived by his wife, Velma Johnson; his father, Jack Johnson and second Mom, Bonnie Johnson; four brothers: Danny Johnson, Jimmy Ellis, Gary Ellis and Roy Ellis; one sister: Bonnie Pauline Delamater and his children: Charles Ray “Chuck” Johnson Jr., Rebecca and husband Mark Gonzales, Jeremy Charles “Chuck” and wife Cortney Johnson and his step-children: Brandon and wife Katie Taylor, Michelle and husband Brett Meurer, Jed and wife Jessica Patton and grandchildren: Adilene Jordan, Marcus Gonzales, Tylen Johnson, Caden Gonzales, Erick Johnson, Karsyn Johnson, Ian Taylor and Tucker Meurer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
