Bonnie Lou Kennedy September 22, 1935 - November 27, 2017 Funeral services for Bonnie Lou Kennedy, 82, of Tatum, NM will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 10:00 am at Tatum First Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Brazil officiating. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Kennedy was born on September 22, 1935 to E. E. and Esther (Herron) Davis in Hawley, TX and passed away on November 27, 2017 in Hobbs, NM. Bonnie grew up in Portales and attended school there until her marriage to Ross W. Kennedy on March 30, 1953. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Portales and attended First Baptist Church in Tatum for several years. She was a member of the Tatum Homemakers Club serving as president for years 2016 and 2017. She lived at Caprock for thirty years ranching with her husband and was a member of the Caprock “42” Club for the last thirty years. She loved doing crafts, sewing, painting and baking. She was very talented and had many beautiful paintings she lovingly shared with friends and family. She was the epitome of a rancher’s wife, cooking for the brandings, and workings when they lived on the Good Ranch at Caprock. She always had something good baked to eat or if it was mealtime she would always invite anyone who came to the ranch to deliver feed or blade the road or for whatever reason, to join them. She loved her family and loved cooking for them. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Vernon Davis and one grandson Chris Martin; one sister-in-law, Janice Davis and brother-in-law, J. R. Ragen. Surviving her is her husband Ross, of Tatum, NM; two sons: Randle and wife Laurette Kennedy of Williams, AZ and Ricky and wife Sharla Kennedy of Tatum, NM; three brothers: Floyd Davis of Clovis, NM, L. A. and wife Sarah Davis of Clovis, Carl and wife Carolyn Davis of Canyon, TX; three sisters: Juanita Ragen of LaLuz, NM, Dorothy Arnote of Amarillo, TX, Geneva and husband Roger Malone of Dimmitt, TX; three grandchildren: Ronnie and Jonnafay Kennedy of Fayetteville, N.C., Laci Kennedy of San Angelo, TX and Ashley Mullinax of Kingsland, TX; three great-grandchildren: Ryan and Reese Kennedy and Cooper Mullinax and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to WRCA (Working Ranch Cowboy’s Association) , Scholarship Fund, % Kaycee Hooper, 408 SW 7th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101 in memory of Bonnie. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 2:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home.
