Obituary of Carl Raymond King

Carl Raymond King November 29, 1926 - March 05, 2012 Funeral services for Carl R. King, 85, of Albuquerque, NM, will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Lovington Cemetery at 10:00 am with Bro. Dave Rowser, Pastor of Jackson Ave Baptist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. King was born on November 29, 1926 in Breckenridge, Texas to Clarence M. and Mary Louise (Smyrl) King and passed away in Albuquerque on March 5, 2012. He was raised in West Texas and the oilfields of Southeastern NM, moving to Lovington when he was 10 yrs. of age. He graduated from Lovington High School. He served in the US Navy (ROTC) and the US Air Force and attended the University of NM where he played on the football team. He married Norma Johnson in Lovington in September of 1947. Carl was employed with the security force at Sandia National Laboratories and retired after serving for 34 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends around NM and Colorado and he and Norma loved going to the mountains and especially enjoyed the companionship of their French bulldog, Scudder. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and Norma, his wife of over 61 years. Visitation will be Thursday, March 8th from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
