Obituary of Mickey Carroll Lambert

Mickey Carroll Lambert July 26, 1942 - July 20, 2017 Funeral services for Mickey Lambert, 74, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with Scotty Gandy officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Lambert was born on July 26, 1942 in Abilene, TX to Jesse Sherman and Minnie Arles (Tindel) Lambert and passed away in Hobbs, NM on July 20, 2017. He married Rita Simmons in Hobbs, NM on December 26, 1980 and they have shared thirty seven years together. Mickey lived in Monument when he was young and attended school there before moving to Tatum where he graduated. He played basketball and ran track during his school years and has always liked sports. He was very supportive of his kid’s activities and their sports and was there to transport them or cheer for them. He fished and camped but especially loved playing golf. Mickey enjoyed cooking for the kids and grandkids and having barbeques for family and friends. During the holidays and special times, he liked having them home because he loved being with his kids and grandkids and family. During his working years he was employed as a pumper for Texaco. Mickey served his country when he enlisted in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era, from 1962-1966. He was a big supporter of the American Legion and the Special Olympics. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Sherman Lambert and a sister-in-law: Shirley Lambert. Surviving him is his wife, Rita of the home; four sons: Dennis Lynn and wife Shanda Lambert of Charlotte, NC; John Larry Lambert of Lovington, NM; Mitchell Lynn and wife Veronica Lambert of Hobbs, NM and John Sherman and wife Sheila Lambert of Lovington, NM; one daughter: Michelle and husband Barry Starr of San Antonio, TX; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
