Obituary of Franklin Calderon

Franklin Calderon March 16, 1949 - November 17, 2013 Franklin “Frankie” Wickham Calderon, 64, of Lovington, NM, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at United Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. He was born in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines to Mariano Calderon and Martha Wickham Calderon on March 16th, 1949. He left the Philippines at the young age of 21 to join his siblings in Santa Maria, California where he met the love of his life, Lupe Calderon. They later married in 1972, and celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on June 28 of this year. They lived in Santa Maria for 32 years after raising their two children, Marian Placencia and Franklin Calderon Jr. they moved to New Mexico in 2005 in hopes of retiring. Franklin Calderon was a kind and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grand-father. He enjoyed the outdoors and worked in many farms in the Central Coast of California. He served as Sergeant of Arms for a few years with the Filipino Community Center of Santa Maria Valley and vicinity. Franklin was very proud of his two children, Marian Placencia and her husband Miguel Placencia, of Lovington, NM and Franklin Calderon Jr, of Lovington, NM. He is also survived by his wife and lifelong friend, Lupe Calderon of Lovington, NM; his sister, Eugenia Insilan, of Camarillo, CA; his brother Calvin Calderon and his wife Kathy Calderon of Cerritos, CA; his brother, Wilbur Wickham Calderon; his grandchildren, Leticia Alvarez and her fiancé Antonio Presiado, Gabriel Vargas, Francisco Alba, Raymond Alba, Dominick Calderon and Izabel Calderon his great granddaughters Jayleen Presiado and Ariyana Vargas; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at the Chapel of Dudley Hoffman Mortuary in Santa Maria, California. There will be a Scripture service on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 9:00 am held at the Chapel of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary with burial following at Santa Maria Cemetery. California arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens. Local arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
