Obituary of Willilam Wilson Bailey

Willilam Wilson "Bill" Bailey September 15, 1951 - January 22, 2017 Memorial services for William Wilson “Bill” Bailey, 65, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home with David Stewart officiating. Bill was born on September 15, 1951 in Lovington NM to Barney and Shirley (Wood) Bailey and passed away on January 22, 2017 in Lovington after a fight with his health . He grew up here and played the drums in high school and was a really great drum player. He was in a band with Harold Lawson and Richard Schenck and others and they played for different events. Bill then joined the Navy as a Corpsman on the Destroyer USS Hull during the Vietnam Conflict. He tried his hand at bull riding, complete with the cowboy hat, short hair and all and then became a long haul truck driver for different companies. He liked his hair in a ponytail and he loved riding his motorcycles, tinkering with them, buying them and just riding for sheer pleasure. He was fun loving, liked to cut up and joke with his family and friends and he liked people. Bill lived his life, not as a follower, but as himself and was a faithful, caring man who truly enjoyed life. He was preceded in death by his Dad, Barney Bailey. Surviving him is his mother: Shirley Bailey of Lovington, two sons: Robert and wife Tina Bailey of Odessa, TX and Bryan Bailey of Lovington; one daughter Melanie Bailey Jackson; His very good friend, Debbie White of Lovington and two brothers: Kevin and Bryan Bailey of Lovington and one sister: Karen and husband Jim White of Marfa, TX; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
