Obituary of Marie Lee

Marie Lee December 13, 1923 - July 04, 2010 Funeral services for Marie Lee, 86, of Lovington, will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Jackson Ave Baptist Church with Bro. Mike McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Marie was born December 13, 1923 in Olden, Texas to William Shirley and Susie Mae (Casey) Vinson and passed away on July 4, 2010 in Lubbock, TX. She was raised in Texas, married William H. Lee Jr. on January 25, 1943 in Ranger, TX. They moved to Eunice in 1952 then moved to Lovington in 1960. She was a schoolteacher, teaching 1st grade, junior high and middle school in Lovington. She was a homemaker, a collector of many things, a Sunday school teacher, choir member, gardener, loving mother and friend. She won many blue ribbons at the fair for her preserves, jellies, and quilts. Pecan pies were a specialty of hers which she always baked for events and friends. She was a member of Jackson Ave Baptist Church since the early 60’s and the NM Assoc. of Education Retirees, the LEA, NEA, and the NMEA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother; J. W. Vinson and two sisters; Betty Lou Vinson and Mary Lowrance. She is survived by two sons: William E. and wife Brenda Lee of Crosby, TX and Johnny A. and wife Deborah Lee of Valrico, FL, one daughter; Cynthia Sue Adams of Denver, CO; one brother: Perry F. “Buddy” Vinson of Ranger, TX and one sister: Nellie Sue Warren of Cisco, TX, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
