Obituary of Jose L. Leyva

Jose L. Leyva August 10, 1939 - January 03, 2013 Funeral Services for Jose L. Leyva, 73, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Deacon Pablo Merjil officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Jose was born in Santa Helena, Chihuahua, Mexico on August 10, 1939 to Amado and Rosa (Luna) Leyva and passed away on January 3, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. Jose came to the United States in 1959 was employed by Alexander Dairy at McDonald for several years. He was an exceptional Carpenter and enjoyed making cabinets or anything to do with wood. He loved all his grand-children and had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Librada Leyva: and five brothers: Zenon, Antonio, Sixto, Thomas and Miguel Leyva, also three sisters: Vicenta Saldania, Rafaela Lozoya and Manuela Castillo. He is survived by four sons: Martin Leyva of Lovington, NM, Jose Angel Leyva of Hobbs, NM, Javier and wife Nancy Leyva of Hobbs NM, and Robert and wife Michelle Leyva of Roswell NM; one daughter: Rosa and husband Timothy Crawford of Lubbock, TX; one brother Francisco “Pancho” Leyva of Las Cruces NM. Also seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Rosary will be on Monday, January 7th at 7:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral home. Visitation will be on Monday, January 7, 2013 from noon until after rosary.
