Obituary of Sixto Leyva

Sixto Leyva March 06, 1935 - February 14, 2007 Services for Sixto Luna Leyva, 71, of Lovington, are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Father Manuel Ibarra will officiate. Rosary is planned Sunday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m. at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Visitation is planned February 17 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until rosary. Burial will be at Lovington Cemetery. Kirby-Smith-Rogers is directing arrangements. Born March 6, 1935, at Castollon, Texas, he passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was married to Consuelo "Connie" Duran Leyva on June 25, 1960, in Lovington. He attended St. Thomas Catholic Church. He worked at Alexander Dairy many years ago and later worked in the oilfield before working in carpentry in the construction field. Survivors include his wife, Connie, of the home; a son, Alonzo Leyva and his wife, Corina, of Lovington; a special niece, Jane Salcido of Lovington; four brothers, Jose Leyva and his wife, Blanca, and Zenon Leyva and his wife, Grace, of Lovington; Francisco "Pancho" Leyva of Las Cruces; Apolonio Leyva of Acuna, Mexico; grandchildren, Cynthia and her husband, Roger Hernandez Jr., Christopher Leyva, and Amanda and her husband, Matthew Vela of Lovington; and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Hernandez, Jadyn Breedlove and Aden Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amado and Rosa Leyva; three sisters, three brothers and a grandaughter
