Obituary of Zenon L. Leyva

Zenon L. Leyva June 23, 1937 - May 30, 2010 Funeral services for Zenon L. Leyva, 72, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Rosary will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 7pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Leyva was born on June 23, 1937 in Santa Helena, Chihuahua, Mexico to Amado and Rosa (Luna) Leyva and passed away on May 30, 2010 in Odessa, TX. He has resided in the United States since 1959 and was employed by the Alexanders at McDonald for several years before becoming a self-employed farmer until his retirement in 2003. He was a man of humor and enjoyed jokes and kept others laughing. He married Grace Griego Leyva in 1967 in Penasco, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Sixto Leyva, Thomas Leyva and Miguel Leyva and three sisters: Vicenta Saldania, Rafaela Lozoya and Manuela Castillo. He is survived by his wife Grace of Lovington, two sons: Jose Amado and wife Rosa Leyva of Lovington and Teodoro “Teddy” Herman and wife Nancy Leyva of Lovington and one daughter: Jane and husband Eduardo Salcido of Lovington; three brothers: Francisco Leyva of Las Cruces, Jose Leyva of Lovington and Apolonio Leyva of Via Acuna, Mexico and ten grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 8 am until 8 pm and Thursday from 8 am until service time.
