Lopez August 27, 1946 - February 16, 2014 Joe was born on August 27, 1946 in Saragoza, Texas to Roman Lopez and Florencia Sanchez-Garcia and passed away on February 16, 2014 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was employed by Shell Oil Company till late 80’s. Joe was raised here in Lovington and was in the Army and fought the Vietnam War; he was stationed in Germany. He loved John Wayne movies, liked fishing, having BBQ, and enjoyed loud tejano music. Joe was a good provider and a good Dad. He was a hard worker and “all is well” and “It ’ll be alright” were his favorite sayings. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Leroy and Roman Jr. Lopez; one brother-in-law Bennie Garcia. He is survived by two sons: Joe S. Lopez Jr. and Joey S. Lopez both of Denver City, Texas; three brothers: Sammy and wife Norma Lopez of Lovington, NM; Frank and Larry Lopez of Lovington, NM; four sisters: Lupe and husband Reyes Medrano of Lovington, NM; Margie Garcia of Lovington, NM; Alice and husband Johnny Garcia of Hobbs, NM; and Sally Gutierrez of Hobbs, NM and two granddaughters: Marissa Ann Lopez and Mariah Nicole Lopez. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 9:00 am until Rosary time at 7:00 pm here at Kirby-Smith-Rogers chapel.
