Funeral services for David Alan Lynch will be held at Third and Central Church of Christ in Lovington, New Mexico on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2 PM. David Lough of Canyon, TX and David Stewart of Lovington will officiate. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the family in attendance at the funeral home from 5:30 – 6:30 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
David Alan Lynch was born June 19, 1962 in Hobbs, NM. He passed away at his Carlsbad, NM home on Thursday, December 22, 2016. He was the third of three children born to Bennie Medlin Lynch and Charlotte Dephane (Bennett) Lynch.
David was a resident of Lovington and attended Lea Elementary School, Central Junior High and Lovington High School, graduating in 1980. He attended New Mexico Junior College and College of the Southwest, taking courses appropriate to his career as a Landman. His interest in abstracting began in high school, while employed at Lovington Abstract Company.
After graduation, David opened his first business, Dalco Research, at the age of 18. He worked for Oil & Gas companies as a Landman. A few years later he opened Basin Land Records, an internet business designed to ease accessibility to records for other Landmen. He was in the process of building Lea County Abstract Company and acquired Eddy County Abstract Co., LLC. David also served on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Lovington.
He was preceded in death by his father, Medlin Lynch and his brother, Jerry Lynch.
He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Lynch of Lovington; his sister, Lynette Lough and husband, David, of Canyon, TX and nephews David Sumner Lough and wife Ann of Canyon, Michael Lough and wife Lydia of Trumbull, NE and Christopher Lough of Canyon; a sister-in-law, Kim Lynch of Andrews, TX, and nieces Kelsey Lynch of Lubbock, TX, and Korey McMillan and husband Stephen of Andrews, TX, and great-nephew Logan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to New Mexico Christian Children’s Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130-9411.
