Obituary of Lloyd Kenneth Lyon

Lloyd Kenneth Lyon July 27, 1942 - September 16, 2018 Lloyd Kenneth Lyon, 76, of Lovington, NM passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was born in Lubbock, TX on July 27, 1942 to Kenneth Lloyd and Annie Jo (Burns) Lyon and lived most all of his life in Lovington. He attended school here and then joined the US Navy serving aboard the USS Hancock. He returned to Lovington and worked in the oilfield as a Derrick Hand for Landers Drilling and then UTI for many years. On October 10, 1975 he married Betty Lawrence in Lovington and they have shared forty three years together. Kenneth was a lifetime member of the VFW and he enjoyed hunting, gardening, yard work and fishing. He was well liked and enjoyed talking. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Helen Ruth Cassidy, Era Katherine Pool and Jeanne Finch. Surviving him is his wife, Betty of the home and one son: Kenny Lee Lyon of Hobbs, NM; two brother-in-laws: Billy Lawrence of Hobbs, NM and Ernie Lawrence of Lovington; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and other extended family. He will be cremated according to his wishes.
