Jimmie Cannon July 12, 1926 - April 12, 2008 Funeral services for Jimmie Cannon, 81, of Lovington will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 17, 2008 at First Baptist Church with John Ayers officiating. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. Mr. Cannon was born on July 12, 1926 in Thackerville, Oklahoma. He passed away on April 12, 2008 in Lovington, New Mexico. He married Trela Houston Cannon on April 1, 1960 in Brownfield, Texas. Mr. Cannon moved to Lovington in 1948. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Occupation Ribbon ETO. He ran a motel in Tatum for many years. Mr. Cannon retired from Elk Oil Co. in Roswell, he was a hard worker and a valued employee. He enjoyed fishing, skiing and dancing. He is survived by one son, Mac Douglas of Texas; two daughters, Pamela Sue Cannon of Amarillo, TX and Delanna Harding and husband Eric of Queen Creek, AZ; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trela Cannon; his parents, Henry and Dixie Cannon; two brothers, Elzie Cannon and Red Cannon; three sisters, Hazel Benson, Etta Lee Cannon and Billie Payne.
