Mari Ann Marcus June 10, 1934 - February 05, 2015 Mari Ann Marcus, 80, of Tatum, NM and formerly of New Orleans, LA. passed away on February 5, 2015 at Lovington Good Samaritan Center. She was born on June 10, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Homer Alton and Lena Kathleen (Laniar) Bramlett. Memorial services for Mari will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11:00 am at Tatum Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Brazil officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mari married William “Bill” Marcus in Eunice, NM on February 14, 1967. She had lived in New Orleans for 40 years and was employed with the judicial system as a legal secretary. She had also worked in Los Alamos for several years at one time. She was a survivor of hurricane Katrina where she lost everything she owned. Mari came to live with her niece and nephew after the hurricane and attended First Baptist Church in Tatum. She enjoyed shopping, especially for clothes and learning about technology. She also loved to eat and her favorite was seafood. She was a very interesting lady and proved herself a survivor, not only of the hurricane but the flood that preceded it. She enjoyed coming to Tatum to spend time with family and playing dominoes on holidays and relaxing with friends. She enjoyed playing bingo and poker at Good Sam with Rand Rogers. But the most important thing in her “like”, was memories. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, and two sisters: Brenda and Phoncille Bramlett. Mari is survived by four nephews: Gay and wife Kay Hickman of Snyder, TX; Shannon and wife Mary Anne Smith of Brenham, TX; Randy Smith and children of Lovington, NM and Mickey Smith and daughter of Austin, TX ; one niece: Carla and husband Butch Haggerton of Tatum, NM; Great-nephews, Brandy Hickman and family of Dallas, TX and Ron and Wendy Haggerton and daughter of Hobbs, NM and great-niece, Robn D’Lynn and Jeremy Hogue and family of Tatum, NM, Texas and a host of great nephews and nieces and friends.
