Obituary of Tomas Martinez

Watch the Tribute Tomas Martinez December 21, 1946 - April 11, 2012 Funeral services for Tomas Martinez, 65, of Lovington, will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Martinez was born on December 12, 1946 in Karnes County, Texas to Roberto and Paula (Martine) Martinez and passed away on April 11, 2012 at Hobbs Health Care Center. He was a self-employed mechanic and enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with cars and trucks and he was an avid fan of the 49’ers. He loved being with his family and was quite the jokester. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Jeremy and Tomas Jr. Martinez; one grandson: Christopher Zepeda; four brothers: Henry, Robert, George and John Martinez and two sisters: Mary Gonzalez and Rosa Nieto. He is survived by four sons: Victor and wife Sandra Martinez of Hobbs, NM; Lupe Martinez and partner Jay Riggle of Pampa, TX; Tomas and wife Martha Martinez of Carlsbad, NM and Steve and wife Rosa Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; three daughters: Corina Jaquez of Hobbs, Norma and husband Manuel Zepeda of Hobbs, and Josie and husband Rene Cardona of Mesa, Arizona; three sisters: Gloria and husband Lupe Anguino of Lakeview, TX; Modesta Martinez of Liberal, KS and Betty Jo and husband Michael Shane of Oklahoma. Also one brother: Margarito “Curly” Maldonado of Texas. 23 Grandchildren and 20 Great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm and Monday, from 8:30 am until 8:00 pm. Rosary will be on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 6:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel.
