Obituary of Doris Elaine McClish Pettigrew

Doris Elaine McClish Pettigrew September 08, 1932 - November 29, 2008 Funeral services for Doris Elaine McClish Pettigrew, 76, of Lovington will be 10:00 am Thursday, December 4, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Gary Dill officiating. Cremation will take place, burial will be at a later date. Mrs. Pettigrew was born on September 8, 1932 in Lovington, New Mexico. She passed away on November 29, 2008 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. She married Richard Raine Pettigrew on January 5, 1957 in Lovington, New Mexico. Doris’ paternal and maternal grandparents homesteaded in Lea County in 1907. She graduated from Lovington High School. She was very active in the Lea County Museum, Sandy Sams, worked as a volunteer for the forest service on archeological sites, received the volunteer award in 1996 from the Forest Service, Passport in Time. Her passion was following her grandchildren’s activities from soccer games to mock trial competitions. She especially loved to travel via motorhome with her husband and friends in convoy. Her passing ended her battle with pulmonary difficulties. She is survived by her husband, Dick Pettigrew of the home; two sons, Richard Pettigrew and wife Amy of Houston, TX, Randall Pettigrew and wife Shannon of El Paso, TX; three daughters, Patricia Mundy and husband Carsie of Gallatin, TN, Janet Wilcoxson and husband Tony of Marrietta, GA, Debra Pettigrew Hicks and husband Tres of Hobbs, NM; one sister, Betty Hemann and husband Leon of McDonald, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin J. and Ava Iona McClish.
