Ronald "Dal" Alexander
September 06, 1939 - April 18, 2018
Graveside services for Ronald “Dal” Alexander, 78, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 2:00 pm at Resthaven Cemetery with Bro. Harry Pittam officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Dal was born on September 6, 1939 in Post, Texas to C.E. Alexander and Mary Eunice (Redman) Alexander and passed from this life on April 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. Though small in stature his was a giant of a man that deeply imprinted the hearts and lives of many. Dal was the perfect combination of a cowboy, dairyman, farmer and fisherman; which truly demonstrates the vast wisdom he possessed, his unremarkable work ethic, and his gift for working with animals. His love for the outdoors was only superseded by his love for family. He was a husband that put Sandra on a pedestal, a father that took time to invest and really teach life-skills, and a “Poppy” that loved his grandchildren beyond measure. Dal was a man that always kept his word and stood by his commitments. He was known for putting others’ needs first… for family but business as well. “Integrity and Giving” truly defined his character. He changed lives by teaching, loving and exemplifying what it meant to be a “Man of Your Word.”
He was preceded in death by beloved wife, Sandra Lee Alexander; his father, CE Alexander and his sister, Charlene Alexander.
Surviving him are his mother, Mary Alexander of Roswell, NM; three daughters: Dena and husband Cliff Kirkpatrick of Post, TX, Teri and husband Tim George of Dripping Springs, TX and Carla Alexander of Lovington, NM; two brothers: Dean Alexander of MacDonald, NM and Judy of Lovington, NM, and Bobby Alexander and Sandy of Roswell, NM; four grandchildren: Sarah and husband Robert Tofan of Ft. Worth, TX, Hannah Kirkpatrick of Ft. Worth, TX, Will and wife Jessica George of Dripping Springs, TX, and Daniel Alexander of Odessa, TX; and three great-grandchildren: Jillian George, Jackson George, and R.C Tofan. He also leaves behind his coffee shop posse and friends and family that loved and admired the strongest man most of us have ever had the privileging of knowing.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, 10:00 am until 7:00 pm with the family in residence and at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
