Obituary of Glenn E. McDaniel

Glenn E. McDaniel April 20, 1934 - May 26, 2013 Memorial services for Glenn Edward McDaniel, 79, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. McDaniel was born on April 20, 1934 in Lubbock, Texas to H.N. and Ruth (Pollard) McDaniel and passed away on May 26, 2013 at Nor-Lea Hospital in Lovington. He grew up in McDonald, NM and attended and graduated school in Tatum, NM. He married Bonnie Cates in Lovington on January 14, 1955 and they have shared fifty eight years together. Glenn and Bonnie lived in Lovington until 1971 when Glenn was transferred to Big Spring, TX with his job. They lived there for several years then moved to Ruidoso, NM for 15 years before returning to Lovington. Glenn retired from Getty Oil Company after twenty plus years of employment with them. While in Ruidoso he was involved in the restaurant and antique business. He loved to read; debate politics; and cook. He came from a musical family and he loved playing his guitar and singing country music. One of his favorite pastimes was jamming with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hugh Norman McDaniel. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home; one son: Kevin McDaniel of Odessa, TX and one daughter: Elaine and husband Kenny Wallace of Lovington, NM; three grandchildren: Stacy and husband Gilbert Sandoval of Lovington; Travis Wallace and family, Melinda, Kaitlyn & Isaac of Lovington and Casey McDaniel of Odessa, TX; and three great-grandchildren: Gage, Cobe and Madi Sandoval of Lovington. .
