Obituary of Ronald F. McMahan

McMahan July 05, 1942 - March 06, 2015 Funeral services for Ronald Frances McMahan, 72, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10:00 at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with David Villar officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Mr. McMahan was born on July 5, 1942 in Hobbs, NM to Barnard Lark and Annie (Klecker) McMahan and passed away at Nor-Lea Hospital on Friday, March 6, 2015. He married Sandra McKee in Lovington on January 29, 1965. Ronnie was employed by Warren, which later became Chevron and then Dynergy, for thirty five –plus years as an instrument technician. He played softball for a men’s league until he was in his forty’s. He was mechanical minded, had good ideas and implemented them into something usable and was a fixer as he like to tinker. He thought everything should have a dual purpose. He enjoyed reading, hunting and reloading his own ammo. He was a Star Trek and Mash fan and was considered a collector. He loved his kids and grandkids and loved holding the babies especially. He liked animals and had an offbeat sense of humor. Ronnie enjoyed going to the senior citizen center for lunch and he liked dancing at the VFW. He was an Air Force Veteran and was proud to have served his country. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra; one daughter, Toni Lynnette; one sister: Pamela Ann Bailey and one infant brother. He is survived by two sons: Justin and wife Cathrine McMahan of Levelland, TX and Ronnie and wife Lisa McMahan of Kaufman, TX; one daughter: Stephanie Golleher and fiancée, Newton Cammack of Lovington; seven grandchildren: Chantry McMahan, Conner McMahan, Brett Golleher, Jared Golleher, Anson McMahan, Ryeton McMahan and Georgia McMahan.
