Jessie Hubert Merritt December 11, 1920 - August 09, 2007 Funeral services for Jessie H. Merritt of Tatum, New Mexico are 2:00 pm Monday, August 13, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Tatum, New Mexico with Bro. Wayne Brazil officiating. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday, August 13, 2007 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Mr. Merritt, 86, died August 9, 2007 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on December 11, 1920 in Stamford, Texas. He married Judy Tidwell Merritt on August 11, 1943 in Stamford, Texas. Mr. Merritt had lived in Tatum for 40 years, moving there in 1967 from Texas. He worked in the oilfield for a time and then ran the Exxon service station in Tatum until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing when the opportunity arose. Survivors include one son, Dwayne Merritt of Chimayo, New Mexico, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Tidwell Merritt; his parents, Jessie and Naomi Merritt and three sisters.
