Obituary of Bobby Joe Morris

Please share a memory of Bobby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bobby Joe Morris February 17, 1938 - July 08, 2014 Bobby Joe Morris, 76, of Lovington, NM passed away at Nor-Lea Hospital on July 8, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 17, 1938 in Lindsay, OK to Jake Jr. and Florida (Burleson) Morris. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Bobby was a foreign car mechanic for years and then a long-haul truck driver. He was sometimes hot-tempered, funny and loving and if he liked you, he always liked you, and would do most anything to help you. He had no living children but he took most young people under his wing. He could fix almost anything and if all else failed he was a master with yellow foam, baling wire and duck tape. His favorite actor was, of all people, Shirley Temple followed by John Wayne. He had a heart as big as the moon. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Myrna Morris; one daughter: Vicki Lynn Morris and two brothers: Doyle and Jessie Morris. He is survived by his sister, Louise Whitaker of Lovington and he was especially close to some of his nieces and nephews, Daylon and Bobby Roberts, Darren and Shannon Roberts, Gerald and Cindy Black, Gwen and Earl Richardson; Mike and Melissa Black and was loved by numerous other nieces and nephews and great nieces & nephews and also his other sister, Ina Baxter. We want to thank each and every person at Good Sam for their good care of him and for dealing with his little quirks with patience and love; also Nor-Lea Hospital and Dr. Homer for their care and support and courtesy meals; thank you to Lisa and Chelsea at Good Sam who were his nurses and saw him out of this world with love. Bobby is in that peaceful place where he wanted to be. If we overlooked your name it doesn’t mean we have forgotten your faces or your kindness as we remember each of you, what you said, what you did! A private family service will be held at a later time. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com. “Bobby, you are no longer held prisoner in a body that did not function; you are gone from our sight but you live on in each of us. The memories you gave us will remain forever.” Love you Bro, Louise Whitaker
